Bongo District is one of the nine districts in the Upper East Region, with Bongo Township as its district capital. It shares boundaries with Burkina Faso to the north and east, Kassena-nankana District to the West and Bolgatanga Municipal.

The Bongo District Assembly is lending increased support to boost the quality service delivery at the Bongo government hospital, as more ancillary facilities are being provided the health facility in the area.
The District Chief Executive for Bongo in the Upper East region, Clement Akugre Atiah has assured of the Assembly’s focus and commitment to speed up rehabilitation works on the theatre block of the government hospital which was blazed down a month ago.
