Bawku Municipality with Bawku is one of the nine districts and municipalities in the Upper East Region of Ghana. It is located approximately between latitudes 11o 111 and 100 401 North and longitude 0o 181w and 0o 61 E in the north-eastern corner of the region. The Municipality has a total land area of about 1215 05 sq km. It shares boundaries with the Republic of Burkina Faso, the Republic of Togo, Bawku West District and Garu–Tempane District to the north, east, west and the south respectively.
The Police in Bawku have denied reports of mounting tension in the area following allegations of corruption levelled against the service by the residents.
Alhaji Moro Adam, District Chief Executive of Bawku West District, said behavioral change was needed by all to address the sanitation problems bedeviling the country.
The Bawku Municipal Security Council (MUSEC) has notified the public that the Assembly will reward individuals who provide security agencies with information leading to the arrest or conviction of persons in possession of weapons with an amount of GH¢3,000.
President John Dramani Mahama has called on the people of Bawku to bury their differences and forge ahead and pave way for the initiation of massive development projects in the coming years.
