The Bunkpurugu-Yunyoo district is one of the 26 districts created in the Northern Region. It was created in the year 2004 as part of the government’s efforts to further decentralize governance. It has Bunkpurugu as its administrative capital. The district is located at the north-eastern end of the Northern Region of Ghana. It shares boundaries in the north with the Garu-Tempane, to the east with Togo, west with East Mamprusi and to the south by Gushiegu and chereponi districts respectively
Alhaji A.B.A Fuseini, Deputy Northern Regional Minister has cut the sod for construction works on the Namong Senior High School in the Bunkpurugu/Yunyoo District, which is part of governments first batch of the fifty model schools under the new 200 community SHS across the country.
