Nanumba North is one of the twenty (26) districts in the Northern Region of Ghana. The district shares boundaries with East Gonja District to the west and south-west, Yendi Municipal to the north. To the east, it shares boundaries with Zabzugu District, to the south with kpandai District and to the south east with the Nanumba South. The administrative district capital is Bimbilla.The district is occupied by two major ethnic groups, namely the Nanumbas and Konkonbas and a few Basares and other minority tribes with the Nanumbas forming the dominant ethnic group. Therefore major languages spoken are Nanumba and Konkomba.
Reports from the Nanumba North District in the Northern Region indicate that calm has been restored to the area after sporadic shooting between rival factions on Thursday night. Disagreement over the burial place of the Na-Kpana Salifu Dawunide reportedly resulted in the sporadic shooting.
The District Chief Executive for the Nanumba North District Assembly, Alhaji Mohammed Ibn Abass has admonished teachers to eschew lackadaisical attitudes like absenteeism, leaving post for further studies without due permission, and other forms of unacceptable behavior that mars the effort in the promotion of quality education.
The Assemblies of God Relief and Development Services (AGREDS) together with the Christians Children Fund of Canada (CCFC) has successfully trained and equipped some persons with start up kits to begin their own businesses.
Residents of Bimbilla in the Nanumba North District of the Northern Region are full of joy and praises to government and the Savannah Accelerated Development Authority, for the facelift given to the 47km road from Bimbilla to Yendi which had been a thorn in their flesh until this intervention.
The Nanumba North District Assembly is to embark on a vigorous sensitization programme to encourage the residents to pay property rates which is one sure way of generating revenue for the assembly internally.
