The following profile of the East Mamprusi District was compiled with information from recorded sources particularly the first Medium Term Development Plan prepared by the District Assembly for the l996 – 2002 Planning period. It is by and large an update of the District Profile of the first Medium Term Plan.
In updating the profile, information was obtained from Departments in the District and from field interviews and observations by the District Planning and Co-ordinating Units and the plan preparation team. The current status of the District depicts the situation of the District on a wide range of issues. These include physical characteristics, environmental situation, human settlement patterns, and demographic characteristics.
An attempt is made to portray the District’s current status on issues like the economy, production and gainful employment, human resource development, governance and issues on the vulnerable and excluded, in line with the Ghana Poverty Reduction Strategy (GPRS) themes. This is done to present a brief factual and descriptive information of the East Mamprusi District .It also brings out the key development problems identified as hindrance to development and causes of poverty in the District for which programmes and projects are proposed in this document
Nayiri Naabohagu Mahami Abdulai Sheriga, Overlord of the Mamprugu Traditional Area, has commended President John Dramani Mahama for re-nominating Mr Adam Imoro as East Mamprusi District Chief Executive (DCE).
