The Ellembelle District is one of the Seventeen (17) Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies in the Western Region of Ghana. The District was carved out of the then Nzema East District in December 2007 by (LI) 1918 and inaugurated in February 2008, with Nkroful as the District Administrative seat or Capital.
In the Local Government Act, 1993 (Act 462) and the National Development Planning System Act, 1994 (Act 408), the Ellembelle District Assembly is to function as the overall Planning Authority in its areas of jurisdiction.
The Member of Parliament (MP) for Ellembelle, Mr. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah has donated 500 wheel chairs and crutches worth $15,000 to the Ghana Federation of the Disabled in the Ellembelle District in the Western Region.
A new office complex for the National Health Insurance Authority has been completed and commissioned in the Ellembelle District as part of efforts to intensify their operations in the area.
The Member of Parliament for Ellembele, Emmanuel Armand Kofi Buah has been nominated by President John Mahama as the Minister designate for Energy and Petroleum.
As part of efforts to improve the living conditions of teachers in the area, the Ellembele District Assembly has completed and commissioned a new modern teacher’s quarters’ facility at Ngalekyi, a subsurb community in the district.
In a bid to improve teaching and learning in the area, the Ellembelle District Assembly has procured and distributed about 800 pieces of dual desks to some selected basic schools within the District.
