Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam (AEE) is one of the seventeen[17]districts in the Central Region of Ghana. It is rural and covers an estimated land area of 541.3 square kilometres which is 5% of the Central Regional land area. Assin district forms the boundary on the West, the South by Mfantsiman Municipal, on the north-west by Asikuma and to the east by Gomoa District.
There are nine area councils in Ajumako; they are Baa, Ajumako, Bisease, Mando, Abaasa, Breman Essiam, Denkyira, Etsii Sonkwaa and Enyan-Mam.
The District is divided into four sub-districts for health delivery purposes, namely;- Ajumako, Nkwantanum, Bisease, Enyan Abaasa.
Ajumako is the District capital and is about 40 kilometres Northeast orthe Cape Coast Municipality. Akans predominantly inhabit AEE district. There are however few migrant Ewes, Gas, Krobos and people from the northern sector of Ghana.
A multi-million cedi Information Communication Technology (ICT) centre has been inaugurated at the High Brains Senior High School at Brofoyedur in the Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam District of the Central Region.
The Presiding Member of the Ajumako-Enyan- Essiam District Assembly, Mr Solomon F. Cobbinah has urged members of the Assembly to come together as one body and plan towards the development of the district.
The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has organized an IEA form of debate for Parliamentary candidates in the Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam District in the Central Region.
An electricity extension project has began in about fifteen communities in the Ajumako/ Enyan/ Essiam District in the Central Region to improve socio-economic activities in the area.
The Ajumako Enyan Essiam District Chief Executive, Peter Light Koomson, has vowed his outfit will do its possible best to provide health workers with the much needed logistic aimed at improving health delivery in the area.
