The Amansie West District is one of the 30 districts created in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. It was carved out of the Amansie East District in Ashanti Region in 1989, as part of the Government’s Decentralization Policy. Manso-Nkwanta is the district capital.
The district is located in the south-western part of the Ashanti Region. It shares common boundary on its Western part with the Atwima District. On its northern part can be found the Bosomtwe District, while a regional boundary separates it from Western Region on its southern part.
Keegan Resource Ghana Limited (KRGL), a mining firm, has provided a 20-seater aqua privy toilet facility, a medical laboratory, and a 3-unit Kindergarten school block for three communities in the Amansie West District.
President John Dramani Mahama has nominated Mr. Alex Kwame Bonsu as the new Chief Executive for the Amansie West District Assembly in accordance with Article 243(1) of the 1992 Constitution and Section 20(1) of the Local Government Act 1993, Act 462.
Chiefs and people of Manso Adubia in the Amesie West District in the Ashante Region have appealed to government to immediately come to their aid and improve the poor condition of the Health Centre in the area.
