The Amansie West District is one of the 27 districts in the country. It was carved out of the Amansie East District in Ashanti Region in 1989, as part of the Government’s Decentralization Policy. Manso-Nkwanta is the district capital. The district is located in the south-western part of the Ashanti Region. It shares common boundary on its Western part with the Atwima District. On its northern part can be found the Bosomtwe District, while a regional boundary separates it from Western Region on its southern part.
The Member of Parliament (MP) for Amansie West, Madam Grace Addo, has called for strict enforcement of the country’s environmental and mining laws to help reduce the fast degradation of the environment and also protect the lives and property of people in mining communities.
About 24 youth who received training under the Rural Enterprise Project (REP) in the Amansie West District have been presented with start-up kids worth GHs 12,820 to assist them establish their private business.
For the purpose of improving education and enhancing academic activities, a new resource and library centre is nearing completion at Antoakrom, a community in the Amasie West District in the Ashanti Region.
