Techiman North District with its capital Tuobodom was carved from Techiman and forms part of the new districts and municipalities created in the year 2012 and were inaugurated at their various locations simultaneously on the 28th June, 2012.
The President H.E. J.E.A Mills, by an Executive Instrument (E.I) created 46 new Districts.
All the inaugurated and confirmed MMDAs established are operational with immediate effect hence bringing the total number of MMDAs to 216.
These new creations arose as a result of the large size of some of the then 170 MMDAs which was not one way or the other allowing the government to fully implement its policies of local governance to the benefit of the entire citizenary.

Three (3) workers belonging of a sub-contractor working under Kofi Job Construction firm on the 9km Tuobodom-Offuman road died on the spot, and 28 sustained various degrees of injuries when a Kia Rhino with registration number AW 90–12 which they were travelling in to work was involved in an accident on Monday, on the Techiman-Tuobodom-Offuman road in the Techiman North District.
Mr Joseph Adu-Boampong, the National President of the Ghana Society of the Physically Disabled (GSPD), has called on district and municipal assemblies to support activities of the physically challenged to make them self-reliant.
Mr. Anthony Kwaku Marnu, Techiman, North District Chief Executive has urged the people of the area to promote unity, peace and understanding in all the communities so as to enhance the development of the newly created district.
