Asutifi South District Assembly is one of the newly created administrative districts in the Brong Ahafo Region. The District was carved from the then Asutifi District in 2012. It lies between latitudes 6°40’ and 7°15’ North and Longitudes 2°15’ and 2°45’ west. In terms of land area, the District covers about 597.2440 sq. kilometers. The District shares boundaries with Asutifi North District to the North, Ahafo Ano North District to the East, Asunafo Municipal to the West, Atwima Mponua District to the South-East, and Asunafo South District to the South-West. The District has Hwidiem as the capital and it’s about 3.2 kilometers away from the mother District Capital, Kenyasi.
To improve opportunities for access to quality education for all children in the basic and second cycle schools in Asutifi South District, the assembly in 2015 made substantial investment in infrastructure improvement in the education sector in the district.
