Asutifi South District Assembly is one of the newly created administrative districts in the Brong Ahafo Region. The District was carved from the then Asutifi District in 2012. It lies between latitudes 6°40’ and 7°15’ North and Longitudes 2°15’ and 2°45’ west. In terms of land area, the District covers about 597.2440 sq. kilometers. The District shares boundaries with Asutifi North District to the North, Ahafo Ano North District to the East, Asunafo Municipal to the West, Atwima Mponua District to the South-East, and Asunafo South District to the South-West. The District has Hwidiem as the capital and it’s about 3.2 kilometers away from the mother District Capital, Kenyasi.
President John Mahama has urged district assemblies to consider revenue generation as an important function and stop the over reliance on the District Assembly Common Fund and other central releases for development.
Mr. Modestus Nuworsu, District Chief Executive for Asutifi South in the Brong Ahafo Region has assured of the Assembly’s determination to address challenges confronting the educational sector in the district.
