Atiwa East holds district assembly meeting
The Atiwa East District Assembly held its First Ordinary Meeting of the Third Session of the Second Assembly on Thursday, 24th March, 2022 at the District Assembly Hall, Anyinam.

At the meeting, the Assembly successfully re-elected, Mr Samuel Obeng Asamoah as its Presiding Member.

The election which was conducted by the District Electoral Officer had twenty-two (22) Assembly Members present and voting. Mr Samuel Obeng Asamoah polled 21 votes out of the 22 votes cast, representing 87.5%. He was duly sworn into office by the District Circuit Court Judge, His Lordship Titus Glover.

The PM in his acceptance speech thanked the House for his re-election and called for their co-operation.

In his address, the District Chief Executive (DCE), Kwabena Panin Nkansah expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the House for overwhelmingly endorsing his renomination by the President to continue with his mandate as the District Chief Executive for the second term.

He commended the House for the support and co-operation accorded his office and expressed his gratitude to the Member of Parliament for her unflinching support and commitment towards the development of the District. He also thanked management, staff and departmental heads for their technical support.

He was full of appreciation to the House for the successful election of a Presiding Member for the Assembly. He hence extended a hearty congratulation to the PM on his successful re-election. He commended his hard work and commitment towards the course of the Assembly and wished him Godspeed in his second term.


He also stated that, last year was not an easy one for the country as it recovers from the devastating effect of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the government relentlessly pursued major policy initiatives to enhance the livelihood of the citizenry. He therefore urged the citizenry to continue to support the government in its effort to restore the country back on track towards accelerated development.

He also called on the public to support the government in implementing the E-Levy to widen our tax net to rope in taxes from the e-commerce sector. This he indicated will enable government to secure more funds to develop the country.

His address basically provided an update on the state of the District which included major activities and policy initiatives undertaken within 2021 and the first quarter of 2022.
