Kintampo North Nabco holds first General Meeting
The Kintampo Nations Builders Corps (NABCO) program is a government initiative to address graduate unemployment to solve social problems.

The focus of the initiative is solving public services delivery in health, education, agriculture, technology, governance and drive revenue mobilization and collection.

Under the programme, graduates are trained, equipped with the necessary work tools and deployed around the country to engage in the following programmes: Educate Ghana, Heal Ghana, Feed Ghana Revenue Ghana, Civic Ghana, Enterprise, and Digitize Ghana.

Under the leadership of the Municipal NABCO Director, Enoch Ankom, the first general meeting for NABCO, Kintampo North Municipality was held at the Municipal Assembly Hall.

Present was the Municipal Chief Executive for Kintampo North, Mr. Michael SarkodieBaffoe, Module implementation partners (MIPs) , Research and Training Corps members (RTCs) and the over 400 members of the programme in Kintampo Municipality.


In his Keynote address, the Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. Sarkodie lauded the President for the birth of such a strategic programme and described the President as far-sighted for such an important programme.

He disabused the minds of all that, NABCO was not a programme for political coloration and for that matter trainees should view NABCO from an objective view point.

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) admonished trainees to adopt positive work attitude to repay the belief reposed in them by the president. “Indiscipline was a serious canker that retards the growth and development of any nation”, he said whiles calling for discipline among trainees.


He noted and emphasized the role of Nation Builders and relived the role of Nation Builders in Japan after the World War II. He said with the completion of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) programme, trainees should work hard as recruitment into the public services was on its way for trainees based on merit.

He cautioned trainees and said they will not hesitate to strike out non-performing trainees. Finally, he called for the progress of the programme.

Module Implementation Partners (MIPs) are heads of public Service under which NABCO trainees are deployed and work. Mrs. Alice Babayara who represented the Municipal Director of Education indicated that, 200 trainees had been deployed under the Ghana Education Service and under the Educate Ghana Module out of which 58 were ladies.

She admonished trainees to be regular and punctual to work, prepare lesson notes and give exercises. She cautioned however that, headmasters and circuit supervisors had been tasked to deliver reports on trainees and that, the contents of the report would bare witness for or against a trainee on point of employment when vacancies are declared.




Speaking on behalf of MIPs under the Civic Ghana Module, Ms. RufinaYuoni, and theMunicipal Director for Information Services Department also touched on attendance and trainees resisting posting to some communities. She said 43 trainees were enrolled on the module in the Municipality. She cemented the delays of stipends for trainees as well as trainees posted to officers they did not train to occupy in school. While calling for in-service training for trainees, she asked trainees to be creative and innovative for they are Nation Builders.

Mr. Eric Doku represented Heal Ghana module rated NABCO trainees with them as good and bemoaned the resistance of nursing and health practioners to the programme at its inception. This he said hard contributed to low number of trainees. 39, with 5 leaving. He noted the contribution of trainees in health education as well as curative services. He also lamented the delay of stipends and trainees resisting deployment to rural areas.

Mr. John Hammond of the Enterprise Ghana module and the Director of the Business Advisory Centre commended trainees under the module. He said the 10 trainees at their door steps have done tremendously well. He indicated that plans were far in the employment of trainees after conclusion of their contract with siting of a mango processing factory in the Municipality under the one district one factory policy of the government. He narrated how his diligence and attention to detail has led him to his status now.

The Municipal Director for NABCO engaged trainees to discuss new contracts for NABCO trainees, Digital Property Address System which trainees are going to help in implementing it.
They also discussed that, NABCO cloth would be put on every Mondays and Fridays, and the Payment of their stipends and the monthly time sheet.
