New Juaben South holds SDGS clean-up exercise
A clean-up exercise was organized by New Juaben South Municipal Assembly led by Isaac Appaw-Gyasi, the Municipal Chief Executive in conjunction with the United Nations programme dubbed Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) from the office of the President as part of the activities to climax the celebration at Koforidua in the Eastern Region.

The exercise took place in front of Koforidua taxi rank, opposite Oteng house and other areas such as Trotro station, Kumasi station, police station and other areas around the taxi stations that needed to be cleaned.

The event began as early as 6:30am with the sweeping of streets, to avoid the busy hours of traffic. The exercise included the cleaning of gutters, sweeping, gathering and disposing of refuse and others.

The volunteers were offered gloves, brooms, rakes, and nose masks for protection and also shovels, wheel barrows etc, to ensure that the exercise was done effectively without any problems.



The New Juaben South Municipal Chief Executive; Hon. Isaac Appaw-Gyasi touched on the aim of the clean –up exercise, “saying we are doing this to educate the general public to inculcate good cleaning environment in our various communities, as the whole world is moving from poverty to equality of life on this earth therefore all hands should be on deck to clean our surroundings to ensure good health”.

He also touched on the seventeen Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) which according to him the Municipality will not leave no stone unturned to ensure that the citizenry will adhere and practice good health.

The New Juaben South Municipal Police Commander; Chief Superintendent Nicholas Opare Ofosuhene, advised the general public to ensure stringent monitoring on their wards to avoid kidnapping. He also urged all the citizenry to be cautious and report all bad people or aliens activities within their community to the police.

DSP Ofosuhene further assured the public on the police readiness to assists everybody and appealed to the public to relate peacefully to build a stronger nation for the future generations.
