According to her, that could not be achieved without the thorough engagement of all relevant stakeholders in the educational sector.

She disclosed that data on performances of students in recent examinations have not been encouraging hence the need for the assembly to devise solutions to address the challenge.

The MCE said the assembly was fully aware of the infrastructural and logistical challenges confronting education in the municipality, adding that the assembly was putting in place the necessary measures to get those concerns addressed in the foreseeable future.
“If we were to engage as and when necessary, we would be able to get a better appreciation of these difficulties and offer suitable solutions to address them which would include short-term, medium- term and long-term solutions”, she said.

For her part, the Director of Human Resources at the Ministry of Education, Mrs Angela Frimpomaa Nkansah randomly engaged with head teachers and SISos who shared their challenges and experiences to set the tone for the deliberation.

She reminded head teachers and SISOs of their relevance in the life of the school-going child and admonished them to utilize the guidelines made available to them by the Ghana Education service, adding that they should operate open administrations and always resolve to identify and solve problems at their doorstep.

“You have been placed there to solve problems and never to lord yourselves over the people. Don’t also think you know it all but seek the views of other counterparts when it becomes necessary”, she stated.

The Municipal Director of Education, Mr. ken Appiah following a power-point presentation on the dynamics of education in the municipality called for the assembly and education directorate to work hand in hand to achieve the desired outcomes of education in the municipality.

In a brief speech, the National Best Teacher for 2022, Ms. Stella Gyimaah Larbi urged colleague teachers to be focused and clear-minded in their work as teachers adding that, that would put them on the map and cause others to emulate as role models.

She urged head teachers to consciously identify conscientious and hardworking teachers, pay attention to what they do and regularly encourage them to be innovative in what they do.

There was an open forum during which participants took turns to express their views, concerns and devise modalities to address these identified challenges.
