NDA and Partners host 2021 Northern Ghana Development Summit
The 2021 Northern Ghana Development Summit (NGDS) organized by The Northern Development Authority (NDA) in Partnership with Star Ghana Foundation and The Five Regional Coordinating Council’s in the north was held in Jirapa, upper west region on 24th to 25th November 2021.

The theme for the summit is "Accelerating Development of Northern Ghana, Through Investments and Partnerships, Jobs, Peace and Security”. The Summit brought together a mix of stakeholders, from Development Partners, State Actors, Experts from Academia, Civil Society Groups, Non-Governmental Organizations, Traditional and Religious leaders, Investors and Private Sector Players to discuss the acceleration of development of the five (5) regions of the north.



This year's summit has for the first of its kind incorporated an investment forum in the summit that brought together both national and international investors to discuss investment opportunities in various catalytic projects in Agriculture, Tourism, infrastructure and Social Services. There was also for the first time a business bazaar where businesses exhibited their goods and services to over two hundred participants.


The 2021 summit focuses on the key issues on accelerating socio-economic development, consolidating peace and security for development and improving quality of education and health services in northern Ghana.

The investment forum focuses on Investment opportunities in the Northern Zone and incentives available, Strategies to achieve an agricultural - led economic transformation of the northern development zone of Ghana, Harnessing the Tourism potential of the northern development zone, Improving social services delivery and Infrastructural Finance in the northern Ghana.


In attendance were the Guest Speaker Dr. Mohammed Ibn Chambers, Head of the United Nations Regional Office for West Africa (UNOWAS), The South African Ambassador to Ghana Her Excellency Grace Jeanet Mason, Ambassador – European Union Delegation – Ghana, HE Irchad Razaaly, Ghana’s Ambassador to Burkina Faso Mr. Boniface Gambila, All the five northern regional ministers.

The Deputy Minister for Gender, Children and Social protection, The Coordinator for Special Development Initiatives, The CEO of Coastal Development Authority, The CEO of Buffer Stock Company, MMDCE’s from the northern Zone and a host of our development partners.

The two (2) days summit ended successfully with a communique issued and a firm commitment shown by all participants to implement the recommendations of the summit.
