Shell Bird Group to partner Asutifi South to establish sugar factory
A Durbar of chiefs and people has been held in honor of Pakistani investor based in Dubai who is also the Managing Director/Group Chairman of Shell Bird Group of Companies, Mr. Syed Adil Abbas at Acherensua in the Asutifi South District of the Brong Ahafo region of Ghana.

Mr. Syed Adil Abbas came to Ghana on the invitation of the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Asutifi South, Hon. Dwomoh Mensah Robert who had earlier visited Shell Bird in Dubai on the invitation of Shell Bird Group to discuss investment avenue in the Asutifi South.

After two days discussion, Shell Bird Group resolved to invest in the Agriculture sector in the areas of ostrich production, livestock, soft wood for paper production, and other related projects including manufacturing and packaging for export. The only condition attached to the project was the availability of litigation-free land. The rest of other Agriculture infrastructure will be provided by the Shell Bird Group of Companies.

Omahene of Acherensua, Prof. Agyewodin Adu Gyamfi Ampem had early this year offered a 720 acreage of land to Hon. DCE to execute his Agriculture and Employment program in the District. The Hon. DCE on his return from Dubai opened discussions with relevant stakeholders in Acherensua and Asutifi South District directorate to release the 720 acres of land to Shell Bird for their projects which intend to offer over one thousand direct jobs to the people of Acherensua and Asutifi South in general.



It is based on this that a three member delegation led by its group Chairman and MD Sheick Syed Abbas Adil visited Asutifi South to inspect the land offered by the chiefs and people of Acherensua.

Mr. Syed met with Assembly members, Chiefs in the District, Departmental heads, media among others to outdoor his vision to make Asutifi South a model rural district in the country through his Agriculture and Employment Investment plan for the District.

According to Sheik Syed the district is blessed with a lot of natural and human resources and he had the technology and the financial resources harness the potentials inherent in the youth. Mr. Syed said, UAE has nothing apart from the sun and the sea but Ghana has almost everything including intelligent people needed for development and better life for the people.

Mr. Syed upon seeing the land quickly announced to establish sugar processing plant in Acherensua.

He requested for permission to go back to prepare his team of experts to conduct the soil test and other feasibility studies for the project to kick start. Mr. Syed came along with the General Manager of Shell Bird Mr. Jolly George an Indian and Mr. Abdul Majeed, Ghanaian Recruitment Resources Manager, Shell Bird Group.



On his part, the DCE for Asutifi South Hon. Dwomoh Mensah Robert was grateful to Nananom for responding promptly to his request for land to execute his Agriculture and employment program dubbed Planting for Food and Jobs (pfj) and Producing for Export and Rural Development (PERD program).

Hon DCE also commended the Shell Bird Group for responding quickly and positively to partner him to solve the unployment problem in the district. He was of the view that Shell Bird would quickly organize themselves to kick start the program

On behalf of Omahene of Acherensua, Nana Yaw Bonsu thanked the Hon. DCE for recommending Acherensua as where the project would be sited despite the fact that his home Dadiesoaba also wanted the project. He called on the shell bird to expedite action and come on since their projects are likely to create more jobs and wealth for the people
