DORMAA EAST: New Police Station inaugurated
A newly built Modern Police Station at Kyeremasu in Dormaa East of the Bono Region was on Friday November 27, 2020 inaugurated to serve the area and its neighboring communities to deal with security issues.

Prior to this development, the town had not had any form of security post on its own, unless to report cases and solicit for police intervention from either Dormaa Ahenkro or Amaasu which are the closest. This has deprived the area of maximum protection and security.

The upsurge of insecurity in the neighborhood late last year and the beginning of this year, greatly prompted the attention for the building of the station in the town as well as other places of the District.

The edifice has three Cells for Males, Females and Juveniles, CID and Charge offices, Administration, an Armory and a District Commander’s Office among others. In a short ceremony ahead of the inauguration, the Bono Regional Police Commander, COP Godfred Owusu Boateng assured Ghanaians of adequate security in the fourth coming 2020 General Elections.


He stated categorically that ever since the nation entered into multi-party democracy in 1992, the security agencies in this country have professionally manned every electioneering process and there cannot be any difference this time around. He therefore assured the public to have confidence in the security system and be rest assured of unbiased services as far as 2020 general election is concerned.

The Regional Commander said with the help of other stakeholders and a constituted District Election Security Taskforce, there is ongoing Peace Campaign in all the Districts of the Country as well as other credible actions and background checks by the security taskforce to guarantee peaceful elections come December 7th, hence citizens need not entertain any fear but rather give the Police all the needed support in the electioneering process to ensure free and fair elections.

The District Divisional Police Commander for Dormaa Area, DSP Anthony Appiah on his part, commended Dormaa East District Assembly for the effort and commitment to decreasing the gap between the police and community members through the numerous police station projects in the District.

He added that providing police station to Kyeremasu was timely owning to its rapid development and its vulnerability a result of the various passages linking the town. He called on the people of Kyeremasu to cooperate with the police personnel for the protection of lives and property.

Speaking at the ceremony, the District Chief Executive Hon. Emmanuel Kofi Agyeman said the District Assembly envisages getting each major town of the District One District Police Station with the aim and hope that in the very near future their dream of gaining Divisional Police Status would come true.


He narrated how the District suffered at the hands of armed robbers last year due to inadequate Police service in the District.He mentioned that aside the Kyeremasu Police Station, there is also a District Police Station almost on completion at Wamanfo, a Police Headquarters at its early stage of construction in Wamfie, and plans of continuing the District Police building in Dormaa Akwamu which was started by their citizens abroad among other Police Post sited at the entrances of the District.

The DCE expressed gratefulness to IGP for his intervention in dealing with armed robbery cases in the district last year and called on him for more support that can make the police stations being developed in the District run smoothly.

He also appreciated Nananom for making land accessible to various projects in the District and again thanked President Nana Akuffo Addo’s government for the willingness to support the development of the districts through the special initiatives and interventions.

Hon Emmanuel Kofi Agyeman was very hopeful people of his district would give his government the nod through their votes comes December 7th to do more.

The Krontihene for Dormaa Traditional Council and Mansenhene Barima Ansu Adjei expressed his delight for the gesture saying, it is a dream come true. He was optimistic the presence of the police station would clamp down crime and ensure adequate security.

He thanked the president and the district assembly for all the projects so far; pledging the support of the traditional authority.
