According to him, his massive developmental projects and initiatives, and years of good working relation with all Assembly members and staff will help soften grounds and ensure his smooth confirmation as MCE.

Speaking in an interview with media after his name was listed among the 260 MMDCE nominees by the President on Sunday, Mr Wilkinson said: “I am already here with them and they know the good works that we are doing, therefore, I know they will push me to the wall and that wall is a good wall.”

He added, “I am more than confident that honorable Assembly members are going to vote hundred percent (for me), even if today or tomorrow, they are going to vote for us.”

Mr Wilkinson is very optimistic that, with his kind of leadership and development in the Amasaman and its surrounding communities, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will achieve its vision and mission to win the 2024 election.

Meanwhile, some constituency party executives and members have objected to the President’s decision to retain Mr Wilkinson as MCE.

According to them, Mr Wilkinson has failed the NPP and people of Amasaman; hence any plans to retain him as MCE will have future implications on the party in the upcoming elections.

Holding placards with inscriptions such as “clement is a disaster, why disregard vetting committee’s recommendation Mr President”, the group wants the President to as a matter of urgency reappoint another person to save the party from an impending doom.
