The move is one of many in a comprehensive plan to keep the district clean in all respects.

Mr James Gunu, the Akatsi-North District Chief Executive, sasid this when a team led by Mr Nii Lantey Vanderpuije, Deputy Minister of Local Government, visited the district as part of a tour of Southern Volta districts.

He said the plan also included the provision of litter bins and bore holes in all schools.

Mr Vanderpuije who addressed the chiefs of the area and Assembly Staff, appealed to the new assemblies to rise above the deprivations associated with those areas.

The tour was to whip up interest in the National Clean Up on Saturday, with Volta Region being the regional focus after Greater-Accra, Ashanti and Northern regions.

Mr Vanderpuije said due to political polarization the government was finding it difficult do the mobilization and was therefore shifting that responsibility to the chiefs.

The team inspected a number of development projects including a market, complex, assembly offices and quarters for staff at Ave-Dakpa.

The team, including Mr Francis Ganyaglo, the Deputy Volta Regional Minister also inspected upgrading works at the Akatsi-South District Hospital.
