Ablekuma North Municipal Assembly holds Staff Durbar
The Ablekuma North Municipal Assembly has held a Staff Durbar at the conference hall of the Assembly to review the progress of work, and to evaluate performance over the period through the lenses of its core values.

The forum was also organized to allow staff to air their concerns and grievances and possibly offer constructive suggestions to help achieve the intended goals and objectives of the Assembly.

In his address, the Municipal Chief Executive of the area, Mr. Kofi Ofori commended the staff for their commitment and sense of duty over the period.

He applauded all hardworking staff and urged them not to be complacent, adding that the Assembly would publicly recognize their efforts in due course.

The MCE admonished staff to constantly adhere to punctuality, as lateness was not a productive conduct.


He prevailed on all hardworking staff not to relent on their exemplary conduct, urging them to hold tightly to their work ethics such as punctuality, honesty, teamwork, integrity, and professionalism among others.

He said the Assembly would constantly make a conscious effort to resource all departments with the necessary logistics to enable them to carry out their mandate with maximum efficiency.

He impressed staff to continue to contribute their quota to help achieve the vision of the Assembly, adding that each member of staff has a role to play if those aspirations were to be realized.

The role of each staff would be needed to arrive at the desired outcomes, and that every staff was important in the scheme of things.

Giving a talk on security tips and alertness a Divisional Commander of the Odorkor Police, Chief Superintendent/ Rev. John Opoku urged participants not to trust strangers easily by not buying into their claims and conducts, adding that their claims and actions must always be independently verified.

He urged staff not to discuss sensitive matters on the phone since suspicious elements could eavesdrop or tap into those conversations and they could become subject to abuse or attack.

He admonished staff to observe security cautions such as not carrying huge sums of money on them, keeping doors and curtains closed always, and avoiding lonely paths among others.

To avoid being victims of attacks from suspicious people, he advised staff to drive straight to the nearest police station and stay and observe for a while then report to the station, anytime they realize they were being followed.

According to him, it was important to screenshot the number plates of suspicious cars or memorize them, adding that one could also send those numbers to close friends or relatives.
Furthermore, he cautioned participants not to attempt to fight criminals since they could be killed.


He said it was not security prudent to trust one’s homes to artisans whilst they work as a security precaution.

The Divisional Commander impressed on staff to take note of the security values of investigating the backgrounds of domestic servants, and avoided labeling keys adding that installing security cameras and forming Neighborhood Watchdog Committees could be a giant step in forestalling the activities of criminals.

He finally said participants should not use one way all the time as routes to home or work to avoid possible track down.


A sensitization talk on Tier 2 & 3 Pension Scheme, known as Hedge Pension, said the scheme was a solid fallback for workers since it provides beef up for workers’ pension contributions.
He, therefore, encouraged staff to sign up for the policy because it was a safe path to retiring comfortably without stress.

In a brief speech, an officer of Enterprise Life Insurance exploited the opportunity to further enunciate the need for staff to enroll on insurance and how detrimental an unplanned/ unsecured life may be tomorrow.


In a closing remark, the Municipal Coordinating Director called on staff to embrace the values of punctuality and shun lateness to promote productivity.
