Awaso Academy Int. wins Western North Inter-Districts Quiz Competition
Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai based Awaso Academy International based has won the third edition of the Western North Regional Independence Day Inter-Districts Junior High Schools Quiz Competition held at the Christ Apostolic Church, Sefwi Bekwai.

The competition, which was sponsored by Kinross Chirano Gold Mines Limited, brought together 9 Junior High Schools in the region and formed part of activities to mark the 65th Independence Day celebration.

Enchico Demonstration School from Aowin Municipal took the second position with 49 points, followed by EL College from Sefwi Wiawso with 49 points.


This year’s edition focused on Current Affairs, Science, Social Studies, ICT, Sports, Arts and Culture and Pre and Post-Independence, with the objective to assess the performance of the students in the newly created region.

The winners of this year’s competition took home a trophy, Ipad for the three contestants, medals, books, plaque, laptop, tablet, educational materials and certificates.


Also the first and second runners up received a laptop, plaques, medals and certificate each.

The Western North Regional Director of Education, Mr Stephen Kwaku Owusu, praised the organizers and participating schools for making the programme a success.

He urged the pupils to take their studies seriously to be useful to their families and society as a whole.


Mr Eric Akrasi Gyapong, Principal for Awaso Royal International Academy, expressed his gratitude to God for the victory and lauded all participating schools for the great show of academic excellence.

He also commended his teachers for working tirelessly to help the school emerge as victors of the competition.

Mr Stephen Gyamprah, the Community Ralation Manager for Kinross, Chirano Gold Mines Limited was impressed about the fantastic performance of the schools.


He assured them of the company’s readiness to continue to support all educational Programmes within the Region so as to ensure rapid development.
