The programme, which was held at the Bagabaga college of Education Auditorium, was primarily aimed at empowering more women get into leadership positions.

Speaking as a guest at the training, the Municipal Chief Executive of the area, Mr Yakubu Ahmed Mohammed, underscored the importance of the programme, adding that the training will help increase women participation in key leadership positions in the municipality and the country as a whole.

“Around the world, progress in increasing women’s participation in key leadership positions has been slow. Women continue to have less access to decision-making bodies in public and private institutions”, he noted.

He was however optimistic that, such training programmes will help equip women with the requisite knowledge to hold top positions in both public and private sector.

“These types of trainings will help develop a cadre of women leaders with knowledge and leadership skills in the areas of gender equality, agriculture and food security”, he stated.

Women, he added, are able provide a different set of skills, structural and cultural differences that drive effective solutions and development when they get into top position; hence the need to empower them to become effective in the society.
