ATIWA EAST: Commissioning of CHIPS Compound at Akyem Mampong and Ahankrasu
Government through the Ministry of Health has handed two Community – Based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound to the people of Mampong and and Ahankrasu in the Atiwa East District of the Eastern Region.

The CHPS compound has a large open space for OPD, Records room, consulting room, labour ward, resting room and accommodation for the staff.

Speaking at the commissioning and handing over of the CHPS compound Member of Parliament for Atiwa East Constituency, and Deputy Finance Minister Hon. Abena Osei Asare, thanked government for the project.

“We thank the government for this project. The government has constructed such a nice edifice for us; we also have to contribute our quota to ensure it is operational. “


“Government’s effort is to improve our health system to ensure good health among citizens. With good health, we can work and pay taxes for more and better facilities” she said.

She implored the president and the Ministry of Health for two additional CHPS compounds.

“We requested for 5 of this facility, we managed to secure 3. We are hoping our president and the Ministry of Health will add the reaming two. One of which will go to Nanapa”.



She said the government has done its part in providing a health centre for the people in the community and hoped the community will give their maximum cooperation for the centre to function effectively and serve their health needs.

The Member of Parliament urged the district health directorate and workers to work diligently while they embark on their routine home visits and outreaches to improve the health situation in the communities.

Atiwa East District Chief Executive (DCE) Hon. Kwabena Panin Nkansah was full of praise for the Member of Parliament for working hard to secure 3 out of the 15 CHPS Compounds being built nationwide.

District Health Director, Ms Effuah Afful stressed on the need for members of the community to patronize the facility whiles emphasising the preparedness of her outfit to work with the community.

On his part the Regional Health Director, asked the communities to provide security for CHPS compound to ensure the safety of patients, staffs and equipment’s.
