He further mentioned that the target had been raised to 20 million tree seedlings planting this year. He finally encouraged everyone to take active part in the exercise.

Madam. Abena Osei-Asare admonished that if one fells a tree, he/she should have planted about 20 to 30 trees before the Forestry Commission gives the green light to do so. She further implored that if the next generation would have clean environment, then we need to plant more trees. She also attributed the current diseases in the World to the reduction in our forest cover and vegetation, which underscore the need to plant more trees.

She thanked the Chief of Enyiresi for taking delivery of 1,000 tree seedlings. She encouraged individuals to take active part in the tree planting exercise within their communities. She took the opportunity to educate the gathering on harmful nature of carbon dioxide which is not good for the human body, and urged all to go planting of trees to moderate carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. This exercise she mentioned could be used to gain ‘carbon credit’ which are usually converted into grants to finance developmental projects in the country.

She thanked the President, H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for the project that has chalked success in just 2 years after its introduction.
