The DCE in his speech at the general Assembly meeting explained that under the PFJ program, seeds and fertilizers were given to the farmers for the cultivation of maize, rice, tomatoes and pepper where the farmers paid 50 percent of the price of the subsidized inputs and settle the balance after harvesting .

Nana Okyere-Tawiah indicated that farmers are now paying full subsidy while the inputs are bought directly from the input dealers instead of from the Districts Agriculture Directorate because most of the farmers defaulted, while there were also issues of smuggled inputs out of the country to neighbouring countries.

He added that information gathered so far show that patronage is quit encouraging and they expect good results this major farming season.

He stated that under PERD, management planned to quadruple the number of cocoa seedlings raised last year and in view of that, the Assembly wrote to CocoaBoard for supply of cocoa pods.

The Assembly therefore recruited 16 casual workers who prepared three sites at Foase, Chichibon and Trede to raise nursery but due to shortages at all the cocoa stations, the Assembly was unable to raise the nursery but they hope next year will be a success.
