District Committee of GAC Inaugurated.
The Ghana AIDS Commission (GAC) in collaboration with the Management of Shai- Osudoku District Assembly have inaugurated a District Committee to formulate the policy on HIV/AIDS epidemic and educate the general public as well as coordinate activities in response to HIV/AIDS in the District.

The Chief Director of the Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council Madam Felicia Dapaah In a brief address said in response to the dynamics of the epidemic, the GAC Act 2002, Act 613 with the multi- sectional mandate to coordinate the National HIV/AIDS response adding that the Act 938 has made extensive provision to protect the rights of persons living with HIV.



She explained that the commission having adopted the UN sustainable Development Goals which aims at ending AIDS by 2030, the Commission has fast track target to ensure by 2025 95percent of all people infected with HIV to know their status, 95percent of all people diagnosed to have HIV to receive sustained antiretroviral therapy would have viral load suppression.
Madam Dapaah therefore indicated that there is the need to end AIDS as a public health threat by 2030.

The District Chief Executive (DCE) of the area Mr. Fred Offei also added that though there are setbacks, the epidemic can be controlled if all stakeholders work together and made available comprehensive HIV services to all devoid of discrimination.
