New Juaben South inaugurates ultra-modern Ho Station
The New Juaben South Municipal Chief Executive, Isaac Appaw-Gyasi has inaugurated an ultra-modern Ho lorry station and market stores in Koforidua, the capital city of the Eastern Region.

The over Two Million Ghana worth of project funded by the World Bank through the Urban Development Grant (UDG) three (3) and five (5) was started in December 2015 and completed in 8th December 2017.

The projects include, the construction of a two (2) - story eighty (80) unit lockable stores, eighteen (18) seater water closets W/C, construction of one-twenty (120) unit stall for the second hand clothing dealers, passenger terminals, ticketing booth and the paving of the lorry park, construction of one-fifty (150) meter long drain with reinforced covering slabs to prevent flooding and a fence wall for security and to separate the mosque from the lorry station.

In his address, the MCE commended both past and current management and the assembly members of the New Juaben South Municipal Assembly for their commitment and immense contribution towards the putting up of these edifices including the renovation of the Ho lorry station for the transport unions.

He mentioned that the station is meant to accommodate drivers and passengers who ply the Adukrom, Somanya, Kpone, HO, Akosombo etc. routes.

He urge the leadership of the transport unions to encourage their members who have been using the shoulders of the roads as a parking and loading points to leave and come into the station.



The chief executive promised to put up a task force to ensure that drivers who do not comply with instructions will be dealt with severely, saying there will be no room for rivalry unions to operate on the same routes.

“I therefore entreat all transport union branches to encourage their members to obtain the needed permit for the route they are plying to enable the assembly not to give it to anybody else who applies for the same route.” He emphasized.

The Gyasihene of the New Juaben Traditional Council who also double as the chairman for the occasion Nana Twumasi Dankwah, thank the President for the immense work which shows that the government is committed to the development of the country.

In his speech he did extend greetings from the paramount chief of the New Juaben traditional Area, Emeritus Daassebre Oti Boating, about the completing of the monument which have being erected in the municipality.

Nana informed all recalcitrant drivers who seems to congest the Municipality to ensure that they get space in the new station and urged them to stop loading and parking of their cars on the streets because the Assembly’s Taskforce will work assiduously to decongest the town to maintained law and order.

“I expect all drivers working within the Municipality to be discipline on our roads anyone who try to be indiscipline on the roads would be dealt with. Various driver unions are also expect to stop establishing new stations because there will not be no room for entertaining such moves.”
