AKUAPEM N: Gov’t keen on modernizing agric- MCE
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Akuapem North, Mr Dennis Edward Aboagye has insisted that President Akufo-Addo is keen on modernizing Agriculture to make it more attractive to the youth of the country.

According to him, it was for this reason that the government has introduced and rolled out programmes such as Planting for Food and Jobs, Planting Food and Investment among others to help change the economic fortunes of the country.

The MCE made the remarks when he visited an oil palm nursery site in the area last week. The project is aimed at a completing the link between the free oil palm seedlings distribution project and the industrialization drive under the Okuapeman Rising Agenda.

In other related development, the MCE revealed that, a new factory under the government’s One District One Factory is currently ongoing at Yensiso, a community in the Akuapem North Municipality.

The factory, he said is expected to be completed by end of this year.

He said, in order to explore the impact of this factory in the lives of the people of Akuapem North, the private investor is very much poised to introduce an extensive out grower scheme which will ensure the sourcing of the raw materials from within the municipality.


He added that machinery and all other equipment needed to set up the factory are already onsite whiles administrative Block was currently at roofing level.

He therefore, urged farmers in the area to enroll and be part of the project, adding that government was ready to assist them by giving them all the necessary training and access to free and large markets.
