The project, expected to be completed within a year, will be financed by the Assembly through its Internally Generated Funds (IGF) and the common fund.

The CCTU has provided free land to the Assembly for the project, which was awarded to Jonbarmo Ventures, a construction firm.

At a short ceremony to break the grounds, Mr Ernest Arthur, the Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) of Cape Coast, said the security of the people was of utmost importance to the Assembly hence, the need to make the Police visible and accessible in the area.

He said it was time the Institution and the surrounding communities got a Police station to protect the people from going to Cape Coast to report cases.

Mr Arthur said the Police station would ensure proper security on campus when completed, adding that the welfare of inhabitants had always been his major focus.

He called on the people to always give information to the Police to help weed out criminals in their midst.

He said he was willing and ready to ensure criminal activities in the Community were reduced drastically to protect the lives and properties of the citizenry.

He charged the people to cooperate with the contractor to ensure that the project was completed on time.

Reverend Professor Joshua Danso-Owusu Sekyere, the Vice Chancellor of CCTU, expressed gratitude to the MCE for the timely intervention to support the school with effective security.

He said after the incident of the student who was murdered, the institution asked for a Police station to help curb criminal activities and provide security for the people on campus.

Mr John Barry Amoah, the Chief Executive Officer of Jonbarmo Ventures, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, said work would officially start on Wednesday July 27, this year.
