With a budgeted revenue target of One Million, Forty-five Thousand, Seven Hundred and Twenty-four Ghana Cedis (GH?1,045,724.00) in 2019, the Assembly realized One Million, Two Hundred and Eighty-nine Thousand, Three Hundred and Forty-five Ghana Cedis and Six Pesewas (GH?1,289,345.06) as at December representing exceeding the target by 23.3 percent.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Kojo Ofori-Sarfo obviously elated by the this feat said management would not rest on its ores instead would work even harder to improve on the internally generated funds of the Assembly to pave way for more and accelerated development.

The MCE who was speaking at the inauguration of the 7th assembly of the Abuakwa South Municipal Assembly held at the municipal assembly premises on Thursday 23rd January, 2020 said the move would also drastically reduce their over reliance on central government subventions such as the Common Fund which is woefully inadequate to meet our ambitions.

“For this reason, the Assembly has among other strategies constituted a Municipal Donor Support Committee which is chaired by me and its mandate is to solicit for funds and other forms of support from NGOs, Philanthropists, other State Institutions and Corporate Organisations to complement what Government is able to provide”, he added.

Mr. Ofori-Sarfo thus challenged the newly inaugurated assembly members to take it upon themselves to educate and help the assembly in its revenue drive, adding that they may be forced to adopt a system to reward areas with high revenue with corresponding developmental projects to boost the confidence of the people.
