TAIN: Revenue collectors receive in-service training
A capacity building workshop has been held for 42 revenue collectors in the Tain district to equip them with the needed skills required of them in their field of operations.

The workshop formed part of the Assembly’s strategic revenue mobilization derive aimed at improving its revenue generation.

Mr. Baba Karim, the District Finance Officer (DFO) said the Assembly realize there were many lapses along the revenue mobilization chain that needed attention and therefore decided to address them by meeting the collectors review their performances and possible way of addressing their challenges in their field of operation.

According to him, the Assembly needed to train and build the capacity of the revenue collectors as the first step of improving activities.

The Finance Officer implored the collectors to establish good working relationships with the tax payers and also urged them to be professional when dealing with clients to encourage payment of tolls, rates and fees voluntary.

Mr. Abraham Owusu, the District Internal Auditor underlined the need for the revenue collectors to educate tax payers on how their taxes were used to fund the various projects for their own benefit.

He praised them for their dedication to work over the years and urged them to redouble their efforts to rake enough revenue for the Assembly to enable it function effectively.

Mr. Owusu entreated the revenue collectors to work hard to achieve their targets to ensure the Assembly was well positioned to deliver on its mandate.

The participants were taken through topics such as proper book keeping, Revenue performances of the Assembly, Revenue items, Fee Fixing Resolution and Preparation and processes, Terms of Revenue Mobilization and Financial Management.
