Nsoatre Health Centre cries for help
Dr Prince Agyeman Yeboah, the Medical Officer of the Nsoatre Health Centre at Nsoatre near Sunyani in the Bono Region is calling on the government, non-governmental organisations and philanthropists to come to the aid of the health facility to help address some of the key challenges militating against the smooth delivery of health care at the facility.

Among the numerous challenges facing the health centre is the absence of a scanning machine, children & maternity ward, stand-by generator, a fence wall as well as motor-bikes for community outreach programmes.

As a result of the lack of a scanning machine, for instance, patients have to travel to Sunyani to take their scan and return with their results sometimes even when the patient is bleeding thereby impeding effective treatment of the patient.

Besides, Dr Agyeman Yeboah said, the lack of a stand-by generator poses a major challenge to the smooth running of the facility, especially during power outages.

Dr Agyeman Yeboah was speaking at Nsoatre after taking delivery of assorted medical supplies from Godfred Donsah Foundation, a Non-Governmental Organisation founded by Ghanaian International footballer Godfred Donsah who plays for Bologna FC, an Italian top-flight Club but currently on loan at Turkish Super Lig club Caykur Rizespor in Turkey.

The items worth about £10,000 included standard hospital beds, pillows, bedsheets, urinary catheters, urine bags, free needles, syringes, gloves, apron and nasogastric tubes, among several other items.

The donation was done in collaboration with Forsports Foundation, with funding support from the UK National Police Charity and Collectco - Bristol, both of the United Kingdom.
The parents of Godfred Donsah, Mr William Kwaku Takyi and Madam Comfort Anane made the presentation on behalf of their son.

Dr Prince Agyeman Yeboah, who received the items on behalf of the Health Centre, thanked the donors for their timely gesture, saying “most of the items are consumables and they will go a long way to boost health care delivery at the facility.”

Hannah Kyere Donsah, the Executive of the Godfred Donsah Foundation, observed that most health facilities face various challenges hence the donation, adding that the Foundation is expecting more items in the coming months for distribution to needy health facilities and communities.

She said the Founder of the Foundation, Godfred Donsah, will be touching down in Ghana in the middle of the year to lead in the subsequent presentations upon his return.
