AMANSIE C: DCE calls on farmers to embrace various agricultural initiatives
The District Chief Executive of Amansie Central, Mr.Kwame Asamoah-Boateng has said that it is the intention of the government to change the face of Agriculture in the country to make it a business where a lot of people seeking employment can venture into.

According to him, the sector is lucrative and only needs some level of modernization to attract more people into the sector.

In view of that, the current government has initiated the Planting for Food and Jobs, One District One Ware House, One Village One Dam, Planting for Export and Rural Development Programme, One District One Factory and the others.



The DCE in his address at the Farmers’ day celebration at Hia a community in the District explained that as part of the initiatives, the government in partnership with the Canadian Government in 2017 launched a four-year program dubbed Modernizing Agricultural in Ghana (MAG) aimed at increasing efficiency of local farmers through effective delivery of Agricultural services to promote efficiency in producing commodities and also to create the enable environment to improve productivity in the country.



Mr.Asamoah-Boateng indicated that since the program was launched, a lot of activities have been carried out this year and in the Amansie Central District alone about ten different activities have been carried out adding that Planting for Export and Rural Development (PERD) has supplied ten thousand seedlings of oil palm seedlings to farmers in the District this year.



He then noted that the Assembly has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Japanese International Co-Operation Agency (JICA) to support rice production in the District and therefore called on all farmers in the District to embrace the various government initiatives in Agriculture.
