Bodi to focus on rice and maize cultivation under PFJ
The Bodi District Assembly is focusing on increasing the production of maize and rice to meet both domestic consumption and for export.

This increase is to be achieved through the “Planting for Food & Jobs” programme, an agriculture flagship programme by the current new Patriotic Party government aimed at improving food production for food security in the country as well as an avenue to improve employment opportunity particularly for the youth.



The District Chief Executive for the area, Ignatius Akwasi Amankwah delivery his address at the 2018 town hall meeting organised by the Ministry of Information in collaboration with the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development disclosed that the Bodi District has been given a quota to recruit eight hundred and seventy (870) people for the people, adding, rice and maize cultivation will be their main target crops.



On cocoa production, the DCE disclosed that some 800 cocoa seedlings were raised for the 2018 crop season, adding that, cocoa farms irrigation would be implemented by the government with Ahibenso, Bodi and Afere targeted to implement the programme on pilot base.



Meanwhile, some 440 people have been recruited under the forest division in the district to give some major priority to that sector too.
