The team comprises of revenue collectors and some Personnel of the Nation Builders Corp (NABCO), who will be assigned on Fridays and Saturdays throughout the period of the exercise.

A statement signed by Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the area, Mrs Janet Tulasi Mensah and issued to the general public explained that the levy is payable by owners of properties within the municipality as enshrined in Local government Act 2016, Act 936, section 146.

According to her, this section of the Act 936 authorizes Local Assemblies to charge property rate and other prescribed rates to enable Assemblies fund their programmes and projects.

She therefore cautioned residents especially landlords and property owners to pay all approved levies, stressing again that it is an offence to refusing the payment of property rate and other forms of levies and fees to the assembly.

“We urge you all to cooperate with us and pay your property rate and all monies due the assembly to help us carry out our developmental Agenda”, the statement added.

The MCE however, assured that the Assembly was also making frantic efforts to improve challenge the municipality is currently faced with. “We recognize the developmental challenges we face as a municipality and wish to note we are strenuously working to address them” she said.
