"My Gov't will ensure access to essential and quality healthcare" - Akufo Addo assures
Ghana’s President, Nana Akufo Addo has reiterated his government’s firm commitment to improve access to essential and quality health services through the provision of the necessary health infrastructure, equipment and logistics.

According to him, government is also ready to deploy appropriate technology such as the drone medical delivery, as part of the drive to attain and achieve Universal Health Coverage in the country.

President Akufo Addo said this when commissioning the 100-bed capacity Ga East District Hospital in the Ga East Municipality yesterday. The Hospital is second to be commissioned under the “Ghana Hospitals Project” following the commissioning of a similar facility in Wa, last August.


The ultra modern Ga East District Hospital is fitted with up to date medical equipment, and designed with several departments including an Administration Block, Out Patient Department (OPD), Physiotherapy unit, Pharmacy, Radiology, Laboratories, Surgical Suite, Emergency and Casualty Unit among others.

In his keynote address, Mr Akufo-Addo said, that he is optimistic that the new project would allow residents around Ashongman, Dome, Haatso, Kwabenya and Madina gain access to quality healthcare from the new hospital, something they have long craved for.


He therefore seized the opportunity to commend Euroget De- Invest S.A- for completing the project ahead of schedule, with a call on them to also complete similar projects in Tepa, Twifo Praso, Konongo Salaga, Nsawkaw and Kumasi which are currently at various stages of completion.


Touching on the “Ghana Hospitals project” which started in the erstwhile Kuffour Administration, the President revealed that, the initiative involves the construction and equipping of health facilities including, 1 military hospital, 2 regional hospitals and 6 district hospitals across the country at a project cost of about USD 339 million.

The facilities, he said, would deliver about 810 beds capacity for patients, adding that the project also fall under a broader objective of providing infrastructure for delivery of effective healthcare to the citizenry.


He gain assured Euroget De- Invest S.A, Egypt that his government stands ready to do everything within its power to assist the organisation carry out its duties under this project.
