The DCE said this during the 38th Farmers Day celebration at Dompoase, and he stressed that, the introduction of the YouStart programme is evident in this assertion.

Mr. Kusi expressed his satisfaction with the theme, "Accelerating Agricultural Development through Value Addition" for the occasion saying, it is most appropriate because it looks at changing raw agriculture products into something new through packaging, processing, cooling, drying and extracting which makes it possible for the realization of accelerated development.

He also encouraged farmers to grow more cassava in the coming seasons because there is a processing factory in the district under the One District One Factory (1D1F) policy to end post harvest loss. He added that, a total of one million oil palm seedlings have been distributed to farmers since his assumption of office as District Chief Executive all in the name of making the district lead in the production of oil palm. He took the opportunity to encourage farmers to practice communal farming to help achieve results quickly.

The Gyaasehene of Fomena traditional council Nana Baffour Mireku II advised nananom not to give out their land for illegal mining but rather lease land to farmers for farming purposes because farming has become a lucrative venture. He also urged government to subsidize fertilizers and make available modern technology to farmers in the district so they can have bumper harvest.
The District Director of Agriculture, Mr Richard Amo Koranteng in his speech, commended Adansi Oil Mills and Holy Family Cereals Limited for actively making an impact and contributing massively to Agriculture value addition in the district and advised farmers to cooperate with Agric extension officers and adopt modern technologies to improve farming.

60 year old Anthony Owusu Arthur Junior was adjudged the district's best farmer. He has several acres of cocoa, plantain among other crops.
Dompoase Queen mother, Nana Afia Afrifa Tokodum II together with several nananom graced the occasion.
