KINTAMPO: BECE begins
The annual ritual of final year students facing the upheaval battle of accounting for the knowledge they have acquired throughout their engagement in Basic Education began on the 10th of June, 2019 across the nation.

Here in the Kintampo Municipality, a total of one thousand eight hundred and fifty two (1852) candidates were registered to take part in this year’s examination. Nine hundred and forty-six (946) being boys coupled with nine hundred and six (906) girls in seven (7) centers took part in the English Language and Religious and Moral Education subjects written on the first day.

The Municipal Coordinating Director (MCD), Mr. Majeed Ayariga on behalf of the Municipal Chief Executive of the Kintampo North municipal paid a visit to some centers in the municipality.

He was accompanied by the Deputy Municipal Coordinating Directors, the Municipal Director of Education, Mr. Nelson Addai-Poku, the Municipal Information Officer, Rufina Yuoni and some members of the Ghana Education Service, Kintampo. They toured centers like the Kintampo Senior High School and Dr. Saunders Memorial School.



Mr. Majeed Ayariga, the Municipal Coordinating Director, speaking to the candidates encouraged them to do their very best in the examinations and refrain from all examination malpractices. He said this was the first examination that most of the children were facing and as a result, it was alright to feel a little nervous. He however entreated them not to be intimidated by the occasion.

And donated some boxes of pens to the centers visited to be distributed to the candidates for the exams.

The Municipal Director of Education, Mr. Nelson Addai-Poku also cautioned the candidates on examination malpractices and asked them to view the examination as one of the numerous mock examinations they have wrote before the Basic Education Certificate Examination. He asked the students to see the invigilators as their own teachers and not to be intimidated by them.



Some number of students were absent at the time of the visit to the three centers and some number of students were pregnant writing the exams.

Interactions with a cross-section of candidates revealed that, they were prepared for the examination even though a little nervous.
Some also were enthused as they were in a hurry to take advantage of the Free Senior High School policy of the government.
