Asokore Mampong MCE distributes items, cash to PWDs

The Asokore Mampong Municipal Assembly has disbursed items, assistive and technical devices as well as funds in form of cheque to persons with disabilities in the Municipality.

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the area, Alhaji Alidu Seidu in presenting the items said the Disability Fund is a component of the District Assembly’s Common Fund (DACF) which recognizes that persons With Disabilities (PWDs) are allocated a percentage of the DACF usually 3 percent to economically empower them and improve livelihoods of beneficiaries.

The MCE added that 60 male and 84 female benefited from the second phase of this year’s disbursement and a total amount of GH179,931.00 was given as support to the PWDs.

He appealed to the Ghana Federation of the Disabled Organization to ensure that the office gets to know of their members who have been relocated so as to focus on newly registered members and those who are doing well in their respective income generating activities and career to support themselves and the dependents.
