Sekyere Kumawu in rice production to curb unemployment
In quest to create employment and seize rural-urban migration,the Sekyere Kumawu District Assembly in partnership with the District Directorate of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA)and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is implementing a novelty district-wide local rice production project.

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for the area, Mr. Samuel Addai Agyekum addressing the media said the motive of the GHs 20,000.00 initiative, being funded by the District Assembly’s Common Fund is to curb unemployment and strengthen local production, boost food security and reduce the importation of rice.

The DCE added that a rice field demonstration farm to train farmers would be sited at Dadease to enable farmers in the area spearhead the cultivation and processing to boost their incomes. Mr. Agyakum indicated that about ninety percent of the Internally Generated Funds (IGF) comes from agricultural and that the initiative will help increase their (IGF).
