An appeal by the disabled group in the Akatsi North District in the Volta Region to the District Chief Executive for the area, James Gunu for assistance to construct a workshop has been well received.

The group noted that the plan to build the workshop was conceived at the time the Akatsi North District was still part of the Akatsi District, and the group was even allocated an area in the main Akatsi Market. However, some members of the group have lost legitimacy to benefiting from that area as a result of the creation of the Akatsi North district where they fall.

The group therefore called on the DCE and the leadership of the district to make good that dream to assist them in their quest to work and generate revenue for themselves and their families.

Mr. James Gunu, the DCE on his part appealed on behalf of the group to the traditional authorities in the district to help release land for the said workshop, assuring the people that when that is done, every effort will be made to raise fund for the project especially from the disability fund which most of them have benefited from. He advised beneficiaries of the disabled fund to make good use of the money, while urging those who are yet to register to do so for proper recognition and assistance.

Meanwhile, the group has also called on the assembly to provide more convenient office space for the social welfare department to promote their movement anytime they want to transact business there.
