KADJEBI: DCE donates to rain storm victims

The District Chief Executive (DCE) of Kadjebi District, Jacob Alebinde  Asogonnde has exhibited genuine concern and love for the victims of the Ahamansu rain storm disaster that occurred on Sunday, 1st April, 2014.

The DCE who was informed of the news on his way back from a conference in Ho, drove straight in the company of the Member of Parliament for the Akan Constituency, Mr. Joseph Ofori and officials of the Kadjebi District National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) to the disaster zone to commiserate with the victims and ascertain the level of damage for the necessary assistance.

The Ahamansu (disaster community) which is 32km north of Kadjebi on the main eastern corridor road with a population of over 7000 and one of the largest ginger producing and marketing centers among the four markets in the district was severely divastated by a torrential rainstorm resulting in the destruction of a number of structures; domestic, institutional and religious structures.

The storm which lasted more than an hour destroyed over 67 houses and other investments while leaving more than 809 people homeless.
 
The District Chief Executive who is also a pastor of the local Assemblies of God Church donated 14 student mattresses and more than three( 3) packets  of roofing sheets to some of  the disaster  victims on behalf of  Kadjebi District Assembly.
 
The National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) on the other hand also provided roofing sheets (30 packets), rice (45 bags, 25 kg), plastic plates (110 pieces), plastic cups (110 pieces), mosquito coils (150 cartons, 10 packets), plastic buckets (150 pieces), plastic basins (150 pieces), soap (40 boxes), blankets (200 pieces) and mosquito nets (200 pieces).

The DCE was grateful to all who have in diverse ways assisted the victims but appealed for more support for the victimes.

The DCE advised members of the community to plant trees which will  act as wind brakes and reminded the inhabitance of period maintenance  of  buildings so that they are not easily affected by heavy rains.
