The Bui Hydroelectric Power Project sited in the Banda district in the Brong Ahafo region is recommended as one of the socio-economic breakthroughs in the energy sector to complement the total generation capacity of power in the country.

The 400MW hydro power scheme facility has been considered to be an appropriate and suitable energy infrastructure developed to boost up hydroelectric power in Ghana after the Akosombo and Kpong hydroelectric power plants.

In respect of its heavy impact to the economy of the nation and the district, members of the Brong Ahafo Regional House of Chiefs have recently taken time off to visit the facility site to acquaint themselves of operations of the facility.

They were impressed with the status of work so far at the Bui Hydroelectric power, noting that its successful completion will go a long way to resolve the energy crisis facing the country.

They also expressed delight about the dedication and commitment of workers at the dam site and urged them to give off their best to ensure the speedy completion of the facility, due to its immense benefits to the energy sector.

The Bui Hydroelectric Power Project on the Black Volta River which commenced some five years ago was advanced by the NPP-led administration under President John Agyekum Kufuor, and forms part of the energy delivery programmes initiated by the Government of Ghana(GoG) to stabilize the sketchy power supply in the country.
