Anfoega Senior High School is in serious need of a kitchen and has therefore appealed for help to construct one.

The school face the likelihood of their food being contaminated from any disease since the food being served them is cooked under a shed erected as a stop gap measure since their kitchen has caved in due to the excessive downpour during this year’s rainy season.

Their makeshift swish kitchen, put up by the school authorities since the school moved to its new site in the late 90’s could not stand the excessive rains so it gave in along with it the earthen stoves on which the food was cooked.

To keep on feeding the more than 500 boarders, the school has had to make do with the open air kitchen, courting disaster.

The Times met this unpleasant spectacle when it visited the school during the recent Parent-Teachers Association (PTA) meeting of the school.

As a face saver, the members present contributed GH¢2,OOO.OO to start something immediately.

They also agreed to contribute GH¢10.00 per term to help the school put up a more befitting kitchen to prevent any disaster that would be hovering in the atmosphere.

At the meeting, the headmistress of the school, Ms Margaret Kathy Krampeh, said apart from the problem of the kitchen, construction of accommodation was not keeping pace with the rising student population.

She said apart from the girls, who had a dormitory put up for them by the GET Fund, more than 200 boys are crammed into a dormitory put up by the PTA to accommodate less than 100.

She said the classrooms are also not enough, and now that they are to do four years for the next three years.
