DCE appeals to IGP for improved security
The Assin South District Assembly has appealed to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to make conscious efforts to increase the number of police stations in the area to ensure law and order.

This, they said would ensure peace and security and pave way for socio-economic development.

Making the appeal in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, Mr Derrick Owusu Ambrose, the District Chief Executive (DCE) said the number of police stations and personnel in the district were inadequate to stem the insurgence of robbery and economic crimes in the area.

According to him, the entire district had only 4 police stations in Assin Akrofuom, Manso, Darmang, and Nyankomasi all operating under distressed conditions to effectively respond to emergencies especially in far-reaching villages and hamlets.

The predominantly rural and deprived district, has a population of 104,244 made up of 53,308 female (51.1percent) compared to 50,936 males of 48.9 percent.

It shared political and administrative boundaries with the Assin North Municipality in the north, Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese and Mfantseman in the south, Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa and Ajumako-Enyan-Assiam in the east and Twifo-Heman-Lower Denkyira in the west.
