The program is held annually under the auspices of USAID to equip children of public basic schools the needed vigor for their academic empowerment.

Young Awuku who hails from Mampong Abebrese a community about 57km away from the district capital snatched away the coveted silver trophy from his contemporaries from other regions at the Basic 1 level. She was accompanied by Elsie Assibil, a class 1 pupil from Kyeraaso Presby.

Beaming with smiles and enthusiasm, the shy Obed was given a standing ovation for that laurel.

Miss, Ama Adwubi Asafu-Adjaye, the District Director of Education was full of praise for this young man, who has defied all odds to context at the national level and achieved such a feat. She encouraged other kids to emulate the sterling performance of their colleague and also advised parents to incoperate the spirit of reading in their kids and stop committing much of their time watching television and telenovelas which rather corrupts the thinking of the kids.

The District Chief Executive, Hon. Isaac Kofi Marfo has congratulated the team lead by Miss Asafu-Adjaye, Mr. Ekow Annan, (HR), Michael Donkor, Ernest Agyekum and Mr. Opoku for their selfless service to the district.
