The Council presented a citation in honour of her when they paid a courtesy call on the Chief Executive at her office.

Speaking at the short ceremony, the Chairman of the Council Mr Seidu Hassan Huseini Louis said; “we have been moved by your humility and selfless service to humanity. The good people of Ayawaso East Municipal Assembly and beyond are living testimonies of your good and great work.”

The Chiefs also used the opportunity to appeal to the President to build an ultra-modern market in the Municipality to ensure that Zongo communities are properly developed as promised by him.

The Council also pleaded with President Nana Akufo Addo to reappoint the MCE to continue her good work in the Municipality.

Receiving the citation, Hajia Salma thanked the chiefs for leaving all their works to come to visit her and having faith in her.

She said her vision is to work with the chiefs and people in the assembly to create a modern local economy to bring jobs and ensure the people of Ayawaso East are financially independent.

Her major concerns, she noted, is to deal with sanitation problems in the municipality to create a clean and healthy environment that is conducive for habitation.

On education, she said her focus is to ensure children in the municipality are offered opportunities that will enable them to compete favourably with other children across the country and those outside of the country.

She appealed to the chiefs to do their best and talk to their people to support the government, adding that the NPP government is the government that always thinks of the Zongo communities, which is manifested in the various policies and programmes directed at improving the lives of those in the Zongos.
