Kenyasi No.1 Community Mining Scheme Inaugurated
Ahafo Regional Minister, Mr. George Boakye, together with the Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources and MP for Tarkwa Nsuayen, George Mereku Duker has commissioned a community mining project at Nana Pito near Kenyasi No.1 in the Asutifi North District.

In his opening remarks during the ceremony, the Omanhene of Kenyasi No.1, Nana Osei Kofi Abiri who was the Chairman of the Occasion was grateful to President Nana Akufo-Addo for such great vision.

He lauded the Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural resources, the Ahafo Regional Minister, and the Member of Parliament for the Asutifi North, Patrick Banor and the District Chief Executive for the Asutifi North, Anthony Mensah for the leadership role they played in the success of the project.

Mr. George Boakye hailed the timely vision of the President in implementing the community mining programme.

He added that the company should employ the services of the people who were trained at Tarkwa with skills in responsible mining.


The Regional Minister urged the company to ensure that its operations must at all times conform to the standards of the policy to enable the environment to be sustained.

He changed the youth to take advantage of the jobs that would be created then in order to live a decent life.
He hinted that plans were far advanced to open up several sites across the Region.

George Mireku Duker explaining the policy added that the government is focused on improving the livelihood of the people whilst protecting the environment.

He said that the government will continue to use state security and other stakeholders to pursue selfish individuals who are bent on destroying river bodies as well as other parts of the environment.

He also warned of the use of chemicals and other environmentally unfriendly methods in mining.

He donated one set of safety mining equipment to the company on behalf of the government of Ghana.

Member of Parliament for the area, Patrick Bannor urged the youth to take advantage of this company and others in the pipeline in order to better their lives.
