Agona W: Assembly, Zoomlion organize cleanup exercise
Environmental Health officers together with waste management giants Zoomlion Ghana Limited have organized a cleanup exercise as part of efforts to help improve sanitation in the Agona West Municipality.

Major gutters leading from Cocoboard junction - post office - texaco - main station were all desilted to allow free flow of stagnant waste water.

The exercise was also to help clear choked gutters that have become breeding place for mosquitoes, cockroaches, mice and flies that turns to cause diseases such as cholera, typhoid, diarrhea, malaria among others.

Speaking to the media, the Municipal Chief Executive of the area, Mr Evans Addison Coleman, commended the team for the yeoman's job and tasked them to make it routine to ensure proper sanitation in swedru.

He called for all hands on deck to help tackle sanitation challenges in the area, stressing that residents should be citizens and not spectators.

“Anytime they find anyone littering we should not look unconcerned but draw their attention to that and what their actions could cause”, he stated.
